Competitive rugby with the door open. Whether you are brand new to the game or winding down a long career, this is the side for you.

The side

The Shannon Cup side

Division 2 competes each year for the Shannon Cup against clubs from Nova Scotia and PEI, with the winner playing for the Wheaton Cup.

It is a less competitive opportunity for players of every level to get involved. Players gain experience in the sport and enjoy the social side of a club that takes its post-match hours as seriously as its training.

Whether you are new to rugby or a veteran winding down a career, this division gives anyone the chance to pull on the jersey. Nobody is turned away for want of experience, and you will be coached from the basics if you have never played.

Competition

Rugby Nova Scotia Division 2, playing for the Shannon Cup. The winner advances to play for the Wheaton Cup.

New to rugby?

Start here

Division 2 is where most new Tars start. You do not need to arrive fit, and you do not need to know the laws. Bring boots, a mouthguard and water, and the coaches will do the rest.

  • Both senior men’s sides train together, so you are never training alone
  • Selection moves between Division 1 and Division 2 game to game
  • Train as a guest while you decide; registration is only needed to play a match

Never played? Good.

Plenty of Division 2 Tars had never touched a rugby ball before their first session. Come along and give it a go.
